JUST THE TWO OF US

We've had a very very wonderful few days, and Zoe and I have just about got used to being alone in this HUGE and FREEZING house as the cold set in, hollering to each other up the stairs 'Night, Zoe!' 'Night, Mum!'
Here are the windows - taken a bit of a beating these last couple of weeks...

Stages was great. I really enjoyed it. Zoe was in two performances - Rise, which was really very good, in spite of her misgivings I think she has probably learnt a lot from that gruelling Saturday morning schedule, and Kinesis  Here she is watching the Kinesis senior dance group... can you make out her jumper?

We had a lovely walk from home through Ashton Court and the Harbourside in beautiful sunshine on Saturday, first day of half term, and ended up at Jamie's for pasta and delicious chocolate pudding! (Very rich, though. I will make it when you get back - got the recipe from the new head chef!)

WOW. Ashton Court looked really beautiful!

We have enjoyed doing some unusual things....

Went to see this at the Bristol Old Vic one evening.

I loved it - an award winning piece, and rightly so, all mime and very lovely. So much more emotion when no talking... you could hear a pin drop in the audience

Zoe took me to experience a dance company performance at the Arnolfini  DISGO

It was quite cool, and we had to dance with the dancers, with lights and loud music, a bit like being at a club, well sort of, except they kept containing us and doing their own thing too. Interesting the way they tried to involve and manipulate us, sometimes, but not always very successfully.  I felt a bit frustrated at times...

Went to the Feilers for supper with Bev and Rob too, and watched SHORT CUTS, really good but very long, about 3 hours!! film based on short stories by Raymond Carver - lots of utterly dysfunctional families in suburban California  (came out in 1993 I think, the large mobile phone gave it away..)

Have decided to hang up my bike .....................   and walk everywhere!
